After finishing my Masters degree in Art History, I thought, now what? Food, I found, was the answer. I've always enjoyed cooking, entertaining (and eating!). And I was beginning to drive my husband crazy with my parties. While we lived in Chicago I hosted a Swedish Glogg party, a Mexican Fiesta, Spanish tapas fest, even a Greek party with a lamb roasting on a spit in our miniscule courtyard (I'll never do that again!) After convincing my husband we had a viable business idea (catering parties for others) we wrote up a plan together. Our idea was simple – bring good food, good wine and smiling faces to Rockford.
We started in my church kitchen baking small batches of brownies, pasta salads and sandwiches. Within a few months we were catering parties for hundreds. Today, I am as excited about great food and gracious entertaining as I was years ago. I run the creative side of A Movable Feast while my MBA right-brained husband, Paul, handles all the business stuff. We have two adorable girls, a golden retriever and two very bad kitties that live with us. Locally owned and operated, A Movable Feast, is our dream of a great place to shop for fun foodstuffs, good wine and fabulous prepared foods. We are fortunate to have an amazing and dedicated staff of ladies (and a few hearty men) who have helped build this business over the years. And we are always grateful to the community for their support. Thank you! Sincerely yours, Kiki Benson |
